Kanha national park is located in the central India in the state of Madhya Pradesh occupying the area of Mandla District. MadhyaPradesh is known to have highest forested area and also known as a Tiger State of India and claims to shelter the majority of Tiger population in India. It is located in the south east direction of Madhya Pradesh.
It is the oldest entrance gate of Kanha and as the village Kisli is very close to Khatia gate inside the core Zone, it is also known as Kisli Gate. Here you can easily find cheap and medium category resorts at the entrance gate and most preferable gate for the tourists from Jabalpur and Nagpur.
Kanha (Mukki):It is the second gate created to reduce the pressure of Kisli gate. Most of the luxurious resorts are located at the entrance of this gate. From Khatia entrance gate, it is 45 kms. Cvonnected well to Jaipur, Raipur and Nagpur.
Kanha (Sarhi:This one is the latest entrance gate of the Kanha National Park. As this is the new gate, not very popular among the tourists. Good Accommodation facility is also not available near this entrance gate.
The nearest airport from Kanha National Park is Jabalpur. Tourists from different corners of the world have to reach first Mumbai or Delhi and then from there they have to come Jabalpur. Other airports are at Raipur and Nagpur. These places are well connected by air to the different major cities of India. After reaching at any of the airport, one has to book cab to reach Kanha National Park. From Jabalpur it takes about 4 hours and from Nagpur and Raipur it takes about 6 hours to reach Kanha National Park.
Nearest Railway station from Kanha National Park is Gondia (145 kms) and Jabalpur (175 kms). It takes about 3 hours drive from Gondia to reach Kanha( Mukki) and from Jabalpur it takes 4 hours drive to reach Kanha( Khatia/Kisli) and 5 hours to Kanha ( Mukki). Jabalpur is the most preferable railway station for the tourists to reach Kanha National Park as it is a big railway station and well connected to the different major citiesof India. It has numbers of good hotels and resorts to accommodate tourists in large numbers and of different category but Gondia is a small town having minimum facilities.
One have to reach at Mandla by bus and then from Mandla frequent bus services are there to reach Kanha National Park. People from different parts of the country should reach to Jabalpur by train and if they can afford taxi then they can take direct Taxi and if they are not in a position to afford then they can take bus from Jabalpur to Mandla and from Mandla frequent bus services are there to reach Kanha National Park.
Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve is at a distance of 255kms from Kanha National Park. There is no bus services to travel from one place to other. One has to take services of taxi only to reach Kanha. The condition of the road is nice and so one can enjoy the journey by crossing numbers of villages, some hilly trains and greed fields. The area is safe to travel at any time.
Kanha National Park is almost at a distance of 200 kms from Pench Tiger Reserve. The best option is tourist taxi inly to travel between these two national parks. There is no large town very near to these national parks.
